NTXISSA CSC9 Call for Presentations

Call for Presentations is now OPEN!

At NTX ISSA Cyber Security Conference 9, we will return to holding an in-person event at Collin College – Spring Creek Campus.  We seek presentations from our local chapter and college sub-chapter members as well as those anywhere with great ideas for a presentation that provides practical knowledge and skills that attendees can leverage immediately in their careers or research. Presentation topics need not be novel, but they must strike a balance between being accessible to a spectrum of information security enthusiasts to experts and provide detailed and actionable information.

Content Tracks

This year, we are seeking proposals that fit squarely in one of the following five broad categories:

  1. Cloud, Application, Ransomware
Increasingly, our data is moving into systems we cannot directly control. It flows through “someone else’s server” in the cloud, PaaS and SaaS offerings, and proprietary (often closed-access) devices that sit in our homes and quietly but continuously report on our activity to the cloud. How can we secure the cloud? How can we find weaknesses in applications? And how can we better understand, poke at, and harden the internet of things that permeate our daily lives?
  2. Digital Forensics and Incident Response
Cybersecurity professionals must have the tools, techniques, and procedures needed to recognize and respond to threats. Not only are containment, eradication, and recovery essential to incident response, drawing the right conclusions and preserving evidence to stand up in a court can define your career.
  3. Red Team and Blue Team Tools
Awareness of and proficiency with the right tool for the right job is vital for both finding new vulnerabilities and mitigating and defending against threat actors that would exploit them. Come share and learn about the tools in the utility belt of offensive penetration testers and blue team defenders that help find and reduce risks to sensitive information.
  4. Growing Your Career in Cybersecurity
Whether you’re thinking about starting a degree or certificate program or just landed your first role, cybersecurity is a dynamic career that changes quickly and is a rapidly growing field. Find out how to stand out, speak up, and prioritize what is essential to achieve your personal and career growth goals.
  5. Building Highly Effective Security Programs
As security gains prominence and influence in the boardroom, it is critical for security leaders to know how to speak the language of business, prioritize, and level up their programs continuously. From developing security strategies and building security awareness to implementing a metrics-based approach to security program management, learn from leaders in the field how they succeed in delivering sustainable and effective programs.

Submission Procedure and Deadlines

  1. Submit proposal by September 15, using the form at the bottom of this page. Be sure to provide all the submission materials, as incomplete submissions or those with numerous errors will not be considered, including:
    1. Contact information, including both an email address and phone number. Please share any social media handles you wish us to use to promote your talk.
    2. One page abstract for your 20 or 45 minute presentation, of not more than 300 words. This is your “elevator pitch” in a summary to pique the CFP review board’s (and your potential audience) interest in your presentation
    3. Draft slide presentation in plain text or PDF format to accompany the abstract (no styling needed). This will serve as the outline the CFP review board will use to understand the narrative flow of your presentation.
    4. Speaker biography (headshots accepted but not required)
    5. Scheduling considerations, if any
    6. Note: All submission materials must be provided in TXT, DOCX, or PDF format. Do not submit URL’s instead of the actual requested materials.
  • CFP Review Board notifies applicants on submission decisions by September 15. Accepted presenters must review, sign, and return a presentation agreement giving NTXISSA a right to publish the presentation talk and slide materials.
  • Final Slides Due by September 30. NTXISSA will provide a themed Google Slides template that must be used as the basis for the presentation with regard to colors, formatting, title, and ending slides.
